The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics announces three SIB Awards 2015, two of which are open for the international bioinformatics community.
SIB International Young Bioinformatician Award 2015
This award recognizes the excellent and promising young career of a scientist, or a project he/she has carried out, or a paper he/she has published in the field of bioinformatics or computational biology. The award carries a cash prize of CHF 10,000, an award certificate and travel expenses for the laureate to attend the 12th [BC]2 Conference in Basel, Switzerland.
The award is open worldwide to a young researcher (graduate student or having finished his/her PhD within the last six years preceding the closing date for applications), who has carried out outstanding research centred on bioinformatics or computational biology.
SIB International Bioinformatics Resource Award 2015
This award recognizes a bioinformatics resource (database, infrastructure, code-base, analysis framework, visualization tool, etc.) that is breaking new ground conceptually and/or technically. The award carries a cash prize of CHF 10,000, an award certificate and travel expenses for one team member to attend the 12th [BC]2 Conference in Basel, Switzerland.
The award is open worldwide to any new bioinformatics resource or any very major new release of a resource that is available online and that has been formally published for the first time within five years preceding the closing date for applications. The resource should have an important impact on life science research, or show the clear potential to have such an impact.
