CWI’s and VU’s Gunnar Klau works on Cancer Genomics Data at Brown University

On November 1st 2015, Gunnar Klau (DTL partners CWI and VU) started a nine month sabbatical as Visiting Professor in the Computer Science Department of Brown University in Providence, USA. At Brown, he is working with Ben Raphael and his group on algorithms to analyze combinatorial patterns in massive cancer genomics data such as produced by international consortia such as TCGA or ICGC. The aim is to discover individual cancer-driving events to better understand and classify different types of cancers.

Gunnar Klau received a Fulbright scholarship for his project “From mutations to modules:Exact algorithms for computational cancer genomics”. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
