On 25 and 26 October 2016, the NETTAB2016 conference was organised in Rome, co-organised with the COST Action CHARME and with EMBnet. The theme was ‘Reproducibility, Standards and SOP in Bioinformatics. The conference also brought together people from all over Europe who are involved in training and the organisation of training. Hence, a GOBLET/ELIXIR-Italy Train the Trainer workshop took place and the ELIXIR Training Coordinators came together. The NETTAB conference also featured a special session about Training and Education, chaired by Terri Attwood (EMBNET, ELIXIR, GOBLET) and Allegra Via (NETTAB, ELIXIR, GOBLET). Participants got an update of the various collaborative training strategies and activities from among others Software/Data Carpentry, ELIXIR Training, GOBLET, CHARME and EDISON. Celia van Gelder (ELIXIR-NL, GOBLET) contributed with the lecture ‘GOBLET: Working towards FAIR bioinformatics training‘.
