In the era of extensive digital output of science and the movement towards Open Science, applicable (international, domain specific) standards such as driven by the FAIR Data Principles are crucial.
Research software should be sustainable, maintained and shared, and researchers should be able to use and rely on state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as calculating storage facilities and data/software repositories.
However, the knowledge required for this is not always sufficiently available to all researchers at all universities.
To fill this gap, universities, academic medical centres and the NWO and KNAW institute organisation are invited to create or advance so-called Local Digital Competence Centers (DCCs). These DCCs are expected to bundle expertise in the field of FAIR Data Stewardship, software and computing.
The now published call from NWO grants a one-off impulse funding for such a DCC.
The deadline for this call is Thursday 17 September 2020, 14:00 CE(S)T.
More information on eligibility and the procedures can be found on NWO’s website.
