Dutch government pledges to invest 68,5 million into Health-RI

The Dutch government is investing 68.5 million euros from the National Growth Fund to advance Health-RI’s national health data infrastructure.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of an integrated national health data infrastructure. Health-RI, together with many partners, including the university medical centers, can now further develop the infrastructure needed to securely store, combine and make health data accessible for research and innovation. Within Health-RI healthcare professionals, researchers and companies work together on better care and new solutions for diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

As one of its co-founders, DTL has a long-standing commitment in Health-RI and has strongly supported the development of the Health-RI federated model of FAIR-based data access. Harbouring the national node in ELIXIR and the Dutch bioinformatics and systems biology community, the DTL partnership is looking forward to helping scale up Health-RI. This includes further professionalising FAIR data stewardship and extending training and education in digital skills within the health domain.
