DTL’s activities are concentrated in three programmes: Data, Technologies, and Learning.
The DTL Data programme drives professional research data handling based on the FAIR data principles. We currently work in healthcare, agriculture & livestock, nutrition, and industrial biotechnology data. In addition to various FAIR data activities, we are very active in the field of research data management. The ELIXIR-NL activities are also part of the DTL Data programme. Please contact Rob Hooft if you have a question about the DTL Data programme, or read more background about the programme and what DTL data can do for you.
The DTL Technologies programme facilitates the (combined) use of advanced technologies in life science research, with easy access to expertise and facilities in omics and bioimaging. To this end, around 120 Dutch life science expert groups have registered their facilities or expertise as DTL-associated ‘Technology Hotel’. The Hotel managers have formed a Technology Hotel Interest Group to promote the exchange of best practices and standards and to harmonise access procedures. The DTL Learning programme promotes training and education for data-intensive life science research. Modern life science calls for advanced data and technological expertise. Researchers, programmers and educators need training to acquire such skills. By gathering in a national network, the DTL-associated professionals can identify training needs and develop new courses. These efforts are aligned with European training initiatives, for example within ELIXIR-NL. Our ambition is to establish a comprehensive, (inter)nationally acclaimed and sustainable training and education course portfolio for Life Science Research & Technology, which will be open to academic and industrial researchers.
