The Bio-design and Modeling group is part of the DSM Biotechnology Center (DBC). DBC is the primary location for biotechnological Research and Development and is responsible for the realization of biotechnological innovations and the developments of new bio-products and sustainable bio-production processes. DBC has strong competences in high-throughput screening, microbial strain development, biodesign and modeling, industrial bioprocessing, application and microbiology and analytics. DBC is well connected to the DSM R&D hubs in the US and China and external research institutes and universities.
Within the Bio-design & Modeling group of the DBC there is a vacancy for the position of:
As a data scientist, you will be located at the DBC R&D center in Delft. Your challenge will be to codevelop a big data platform for biotech to support business driven R&D projects. You will make use of data processing, data standardization following FAIR data principles, data management and database design. You will be part of a team consisting of data scientists, statisticians, genomics experts, metabolic & molecular modelers and automation experts. You will play a role in building and sharing knowledge around the topic of Big Data within the global DSM science community.
- Ph.D. computer sciences, artificial intelligence, bio-engineering, bio-informatics, physics, or a related discipline.
- 2-5 years’ experience in data sciences, preferably working with biological data or process data.
- Experience with programming in Python, Java, C or related languages
- Experience with end-user analytical and visualization tools, e.g. Tableau, SAS, Spotfire, R, Matlab is a plus
- Personal skills like problem analysis, creativity and being a strong communicator characterize your identity.
- Additional experience or degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, food sciences or biotechnology is an advantage.
Terms of conditions
Two years, local contract with the intent of a permanent contract thereafter.
